Make your way to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where you’ll enjoy a 6 day and 5 night vacation that’s been designed just for you. Flip through the gallery below to see more.
During your visit to Chiang Mai you’ll stay at a boutique four-star hotel that is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of city life. On your first evening in town you’ll join a local guide to experience Chiang Mai’s street food culture and night markets, and begin to see what the buzz of this magical city is all about.
On your second day a local guide with take you into the heart of Chiang Mai’s old town to explore a few temples, including a chat with monks, visit markets and local museums and learn about Thailand’s history, local culture, traditions and customs.
On your third day you’ll visit the Elephant Nature Park; an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center that cares for elephants that have been hurt, abandoned and broken down due to their involvement in the tourism industry (such as the circus and trekking camps) and illegal logging. Here elephants receive the care, food and medical treatment needed to nurse them back to health and wellbeing. During your visit you’ll learn all about elephants, and even join in their care, feeding and bathing.
The next day you’ll likely be ready to slow down a bit, so take an easy morning by the hotel pool, enjoy a Thai massage at a local spa in the afternoon, and then in the early evening you’ll enjoy a personal cooking class at a private home outside the city.
On your final full day, get ready to see some of the natural beauty Northern Thailand has to offer --- you’re heading to Doi Innthanon National Park, known as “the roof of Thailand,” that sits 2,565 meters above sea level. Here guides from the local Karen tribe will guide you on a hiking trek through the forest, pointing out unique species of plant life, flowers, local animals and plant of origin to familiar elements of our modern life (cinnamon from tree bark, anyone?) Throughout the hike you’ll be foraging foods that will later be used for a lunch cookout among the forest and rice fields.
You’ll be working with Mary Cecchini of Living Big Travel, who will be designing your vacation. All of the plans, activities and bookings will be specially made to suit your interests and preferences. This is not your standard packaged tour, and Mary is not your standard Travel Agent.
